Wedding FAQ

Below are the most frequently asked questions to help you get started!

How soon should I start planning my wedding flowers?

We recommend that you book your venue first and then contact us to discuss your floral needs. The venue that you select will often help to shape the floral details of your wedding. We find that we generally meet with most of our couples for the first time between 6 and 18 months before their wedding, but there are plenty of exceptions. Our calendar does fill quickly, so the further we are from your wedding, the more likely we are to be available on your wedding date!

How can I prepare for my initial consultation?

We love to see lots of visual information about your wedding to help us ensure we capture your vision for your wedding! When you return your floral questionnaire, please email us your Pinterest board, if you have one, and any other pictures that inspire the look of your wedding, whether those include florals or otherwise, such as pictures of your bridal gown, bridesmaids’s dresses, suit or tux, and linen swatches. We also love venue floor plans to help in the planning process.

how much should I budget for my wedding flowers?

Many wedding professionals suggest allocating around 10% to 15% f your overall wedding budget to flowers. While that can be a helpful starting point, every wedding is unique—and so are your floral needs.

At Tilbury Floral Design, our clients typically invest between $7,000 to $14,000 on their wedding flowers. However, we understand that budgets vary, and we’re happy to work with you to create a floral plan that aligns with your vision and priorities. Whether you're dreaming of a lush, garden-inspired celebration or a more minimalist design, we’ll help you make the most of your investment.

how can i maximize my wedding flower budget?

There are a few great ways to stretch your wedding flower budget without compromising on beauty:

  • Opt for drop-off service only - Choosing floral delivery without on-site design, installation, or breakdown services can significantly reduce labor costs.

  • Be flexible with flower choices - The more creative freedom we have in selecting blooms, the better we can work within your budget. If you provide a color palette and a general aesthetic, we can choose the best seasonal flowers available to bring your vision to life while keeping costs down.

At Tilbury Floral Design, we’re here to help you make thoughtful choices that align with both your vision and your investment.

What other wedding services beyond floral design do you offer?

We are primarily a floral design studio however, if you are looking for non-floral design elements for your wedding, please ask! If it’s not something we do, we can usually recommend a wonderful, trusted local vendor.
